Outfit Design

Image
Hello everyone! Today, I'll be piggy-backing off of my last blog post that discussed my film's two characters. This one, though, will focus particularly on my second character, who I will be playing! This character has a moody personality and punk-like dressing style. She prefers to be alone--watching the world unfold from the sidelines with her headphones in. This is what I intend to capture in the outfit I created for her: which is pictured below! I based this outfit off of the one I had in the moodboard. That outfit featured cargo pants, layered tops, dark colors, and a decorative belt. I tried to recreate this the best as I could with my own clothes! First, I used a grey half-sleeve graphic tee with a "cybergilism" pattern. The shirt kind of resembles those from Affliction, which was a popular clothing brand amongst alternative groups in the 2000s. I paired the shirt with a black long-sleeve underneath not only to replicate the outfit in the moodboard, but to reve...

Casting

Image
Now that I have a strong idea for how I want my characters to look, I can finally work on casting! This process won't be long, as there are two main characters. Character 1: This character has a very talkative personality and "girly" way of dressing. Luckily, I already know someone like this in real life! Her name is Lihi. Lihi definitely captures the essence of this character, which is why I have chosen her. She likes wearing light jewelry and cutesy clothes--already embodying the fashion sense of this character along with sharing personality traits. We are already close friends and live nearby, which will make the filming process both fun and efficient! Character 2: This character is the entire opposite. Her dressing style is edgy, and so is her personality. The person I'm choosing for this role is... myself!  I don't really have the "black-cat" energy this character has. But, that's what acting's for! I adore these types of characters in film-...

Plot Finalization

After some consideration, I've finally decided what I want my film's plot to be. However, it isn't any of the ones I mentioned in my last post. It is still similar, though! It maintains the personality of my two main characters, who are the charismatic "girly-girl" and more moody, reserved loner. Here is the plot I'd originally decided on: "A bubbly highschooler makes it her mission to get the school's notoriously gloomy loner to crack a smile. After 4 years of nonstop persistence, though, she accepts her fate: the loner doesn't value her company or her efforts. It was never worth trying in the first place. However, just when she's about to give up, the loner opens the door to her heart." I've chosen not to go with this plotline to use one I resonate with more. The new one I've brainstormed focuses on these same two protagonists. However, they used to be childhood best-friends. The two had done everything together, causing a str...

Mood Boards!

Image
Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog! Today, I'll be creating a moodboard for my future film. I'll be trying to capture the vibe of each of my characters--such as their choices of clothing, aesthetic, makeup style, designated color scheme, and others--in each moodboard I make. This way, you can get a feel for how the protagonists look and potentially act. But, before diving into things, let me give you a refresher of my film's plot: "A bubbly highschooler makes it her mission to get the school's notoriously gloomy loner to crack a smile. After 4 years of nonstop persistence, though, she accepts her fate: the loner doesn't value her company or her efforts. It was never worth trying in the first place. However, just when she's about to give up, the loner opens the door to her heart." So, without further delay, let me show you these moodboards! 1. This is my first moodboard, which I assigned to my "loner" character. As you can see, the co...
