Day 1 Of Filming!

The time has officially come. 

The day is April 7th and it's 4:00 P.M. It is... TIME TO FILM! Yayyy!

Today, I'm at Lihi's house to shoot my movie opening.

We've just run through the script together. Her scenes are pretty straightforward and have little-to-no dialogue, so we should be able to bang this out! But, before I get into that... check out these muffins we made!

Lihi actually did 70% of the work. I'm super useless when it comes to baking. But, the muffins were amazing! And... I'm getting a little off topic. 

After we finished baking, cleaning up the kitchen, and packing up the rest of the muffins, it was finally time to shoot. We went up to her room--which I explained a couple posts ago would be the new set for our film. Instead of going to my house, I went over to her house to film because it was more convenient. (And so we could make muffins, but don't tell her that!)

Conclusion

Today's filming was a success. Food, friends, and film make the perfect combo! I primarily used my phone camera to shoot Lihi's scenes. Now, I'm going to go home and edit them. Look forward to seeing content about that later today!

By tomorrow, I'm officially going to be done with shooting my film. I'm going to shoot the rest of my scenes, which are basically majority of the movie. I estimate Lihi's scenes will only take up around 30 to 40 seconds of my film opening, if not less.

Stranger Things: Editing Case Study

  Today, I'm doing a case study on my latest obsession: Stranger Things! Even in just the opening sequence, the show is able to instill fear, worry, and anticipation within the audience. The preliminary scenes do a great job at setting the tone for the rest of the season, with certain cuts and shots particularly helping do this. In this blog post, I will be analyzing the editing techniques used in beginning of Season 1, Episode 1 of Stranger Things. This scene is showed in the first seconds of the episode. The camera tilts down to show this laboratory, which looks slightly mysterious. This is known as an establishing shot. It introduces the location where a scene will take place. The dim lighting, ambient nature noises, and fact that it's nighttime help set a foreboding mood, painting this building in an eerie light. This alludes to the action that's yet to come. Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog! Today, I'll be creating a moodboard for my future film. I'll be trying to capture the vibe of each of my characters--such as their choices of clothing, aesthetic, makeup style, designated color scheme, and others--in each moodboard I make. This way, you can get a feel for how the protagonists look and potentially act.
