Deciding the Title

1. Not-So-Friends

This is my first title idea. I've chosen as one of my options because my two characters are not really friends--but also never had an actual "falling out," as one of them had just adruptly moved away. This title represents this complicated relationship in a straightforward and somewhat comedic way. It reminds me of those titles of Dork Diaries books, which I grew up reading as a kid!

(These were my favorite ones. As you can see, they have that same "not-so..." title. The plot of these books are actually somewhat similar to mine. They both follow a school-aged "outcast" who documents her life in her diary in a dramatic, often amusing way.)

But, one reason I'm not really learning towards this title is because it seems too "childish." I want my film to appear to young adults and teenagers, and I don't want the title to repel this target audience or market my film to children. Dork Diaries is also a pre-existing form of media. I want my film to standalone as unique. Having my title inspired by those of Dork Diaries books may cause my audience to mush then together.

2. Rekindle the Flame

This is why I'm leaning towards this title more. Eventually, my two main characters will become friends again and "rekindle their flame." I like this title because it seems more mature and doesn't have any ties to pre-existing media. It is definitely a strong contender. But, I think I'm leaning towards my last one more. I don't want the title to give too much away about the plot. This title hints to the viewer that my two characters will grow close against despite their differences, which is supposed to be built upon throughout my film instead of directly told to the reader.

3. Back in my Life

This is my best and final title idea. I think I'm definitely going to go with this one. It's pretty simple and straightforward. But, I like this because it rolls of the tongue easier and sounds like an actual movie! It ties back into Lily re-entering my protagonist's life, leaving her with many unanswered questions--including why she left in the first place, and why she never said goodbye. I like this because it connects to the information that's given in my film opening. They don't "rekindle the flame" right off the bat, making this title only applicable to the later scenes in my movie. This is why I'm leaning towards this option most.
