Finishing the Script!
Hello everyone. As you've read in the title, I have... finally finished my script! And no, this isn't an April Fools joke. I actually locked in and got it done. Everyone clap!
To be frank, the script is very brief. I've already had an idea of how I wanted my film to go in my head. This was more of an exercise to get my ideas on paper. Here it is!
LILY’S BEDROOM – DAY TIME
Lily wakes up to get ready for school. The film begins with an EXTREME CLOSE UP shot of her opening her eyes, cuts to a WIDE SHOT of her sitting upright in her bed from a different angle. As this occurs, the movie’s title appears onscreen.
A montage of her getting ready and picking her outfit then plays out. The song ETA by NewJeans plays as this occurs. But then, the scene abruptly changes.
JILLIAN’S BEDROOM – ALSO DAY TIME
A SMASH CUT jumps to a moody, dimly-lit bedroom which contrasts heavily to Lily’s pink, bright, and airy one. A loud alarm blares and fills the room. Reluctantly, a teenager around Lily’s age–Jillian–shuts it off, groans, and drags herself out of bed. My Own Summer/Shove It by Deftones plays in the background.
Then, a montage of her getting ready, brushing her teeth, and changing for school queues as she tells you about her life.
JILLIAN
Hi everyone. That’s me. Today is my first day of highschool, and trust me, I could not be less excited.
You’re probably wondering who that girl was in the beginning. Well, that used to be one of my childhood best friends. We did everything together. Until she moved away. No matter how many times I tried to reach out, she never spoke to me ever again.
After years of being no-contact, she suddenly saunters back into my new school, and everyone treats her like she’s the queen-bee! Not me, though. Just because she thinks she can waltz back into my life without warning
JILLIAN’S DAD (O.S.)
Jillian, stop talking to yourself in the bathroom! You’re going to be late for school!
JILLIAN
Ughhhh. Coming dad!
The day just started, and somehow I’m already irritated. Oh well. Let’s see how my first day of high school goes, and whether or not I make it alive past the first period…
_____________
The dialogue is pretty brief. It's primarily just my character talking to the audience. However, this script isn't set-in-stone. I'm likely going to add things along the way as I'm filming with Lihi. Besides that, it's a good foundation for how I want my movie opening to go!
